Every once in a while I get this condition with my two monitors where the OS sees the 2nd monitor but it goes into sleep mode despite having things displayed on I used to have four screens hooked up using a Nvidia Quadro and sometimes the drivers would do strange things with the resolutions. I don't have any experience of the Quadro 1800.
